About Me

Hi guys! Welcome to my blog, Everyday Carter.  My name is Milagros Carter, but my favorite people call me Mila, Millie, Mia, Mimi, or Mom. This blog is about me and my family’s real-world events that take place in our blended family. My husband and I are what we jokingly call DITryers (but for real, that’s what we are), we love the idea of DIY, but we know we are not the best at it, and that’s ok!  We bought a flipped house in 2016, and have been fixing our flip ever since.  Yes, you read that right!  We are essentially fixing everything that was “flipped” in our 1960 rancher, inside and outside.  It has been slow-going because most of it is DITry, and I wish I blogged about our house from the beginning, but it just wasn’t in the cards at the time.  Well guys, now is the time, and I hope to show you our many projects and our everyday life with the hope that you learn from all of our mistakes.

So, who am I? I am a woman first, and am learning that self-care is priority #1, hence this blog. Most people say family is #1, but I tend to disagree because I feel I need to take care of myself so that I can be strong and take care of my family (my daddy taught me that).  Speaking of caring, my husband is the most patient person I’ve ever known lol! Together, we have four children – three teenagers in high school, and a beautiful little baby girl who is growing like a weed! Our family has what we would call a lot of mis-adventures, and I mean that in the most positive way.  Each of those mis-adventures bring us closer as a family.

I was born and raised in Southern California, and have lived all over the world since I was 18 years old.  I moved to the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area for work and met my husband here.  The DMV is home now, but California is forever in my heart. I am still a Dodgers, Lakers and Raiders fan, but I root just as hard for the Orioles and Ravens too, unless they’re playing each other – then it’s CA teams every time!

Even though we have a small house, I am still a lover of comfy and airy homes. Yes, it’s possible to have a small, yet airy house.  I don’t have one specific style, but if I had to choose one, it would be a mix of modern, traditional with some farmhouse sprinkled in – I simply call it Casual lol.  If Casual isn’t an actual style, I’ve certainly made it one.  Look, as long as I am comfy, and I can curl up on our couch after a long day, then I am good! I am the ultimate Taurus, who loves being at home, and likes to have quality material around me that makes me feel happy.  They don’t have to be expensive materials, but just need to appeal to my sight and touch senses.  Also, a nice, soft blanket doesn’t hurt.

Alright guys, let’s get this party started!  Thanks for stopping by Everyday Carter, where everyone is welcome!
